Property:
White or slightly yellow crystalline powder with a relative density of 1.4. Dissolved in water (54g/100ml at 20 ℃; 81.7g/100ml at 100 ℃), the aqueous solution is acidic. Dissolved in glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol. Moisture easily decomposes, and when exposed to air, it easily oxidizes into sodium sulfate. Contact with strong acids releases sulfur dioxide and generates corresponding salts. Heat to 150 ℃ for decomposition

Application:
The pharmaceutical industry is used for the purification of sulfamethoxazole, chloroform, phenylpropanoid sulfone, and benzaldehyde in the production of sulfamethoxazole. Rubber industry is used as a coagulant. Used in the printing and dyeing industry as a dechlorination agent for bleached cotton fabrics and as a cooking aid for cotton fabrics. The leather industry is used for leather processing, which can make leather soft, full, and tough, with waterproof, anti folding, wear-resistant and other properties. The chemical industry is used to produce insurance powder, hydroxyvanillin, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, etc. The photosensitive industry uses it as a developer, etc. The food industry uses it as a bleaching agent, preservative, loosening agent, antioxidant, color protectant, and preservative. According to the regulations of GB2760-2014 in China, when used as a preservative in fruit wine, the maximum dosage is 0.25g/kg; Used as a bleaching agent in glucose, sugar, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, etc., it should not exceed 0.25g/kg; The residual amount (calculated as SO2) shall not exceed 0.025g/kg in bamboo shoots and mushrooms, and 0.1g/kg in other varieties.
